- You take tizanidine (contraindicated).

- Prostatitis caused by susceptible organisms
- Intra-abdominal, bone/joint, and some skin/soft-tissue infections (as directed)
- Infectious diarrhea caused by specific bacteria
- Post-exposure prophylaxis for inhalational anthrax (per prescriber’s regimen)
Only your clinician can determine if Ciprofloxacin is appropriate for you.
How it’s taken (follow your prescription)
Take exactly as prescribed. Swallow tablets with fluid. Separate from products containing aluminum/magnesium, iron, zinc, calcium (including antacids or dairy) by several hours as directed by your pharmacist. If you miss a dose, take it when remembered unless it’s almost time for the next—do not double up.

Fluoroquinolones like ciprofloxacin can be very effective when they’re truly needed, but because of their safety profile we reserve them for specific situations—complicated UTIs, certain GI or bone/joint infections, or when cultures show susceptibility and alternatives aren’t appropriate. If you’re prescribed ciprofloxacin, we’ll go over timing with antacids and supplements, sun precautions, and red-flag symptoms such as tendon pain, nerve changes, or mood/CNS effects. Used thoughtfully and for the right bug, it’s a powerful tool; stewardship matters to keep you safe and limit resistance.
